NASHUA, NH – From May 6 through May 10, Nashua re-CODE is holding workshops during Code Week to get community input in the following areas: commercial redevelopment, enhancing housing options, redevelopment downtown, and redeveloping post-industrial areas.

Each of these areas will be explored during workshops throughout the week.

The week starts with a kick-off workshop on Monday, May 6 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the auditorium at City Hall to define transformational areas for the city’s development, identify building types and explore zoning districts.

Workshop 1 focuses on commercial redevelopment on May 7 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Hunt Memorial Library. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about redevelopment strategies and plans to revitalize neighborhoods, and explore proposed zoning districts and development concepts aimed at creating walkable, mixed-use neighborhoods.

Workshop 2 looks at enhancing housing options to shape a more inclusive and sustainable future on Tuesday, May 7 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Nashua Public Library Theater. During this information session, the community will discuss ways to encourage housing for all through zoning approaches and explore options to amend the city’s accessory dwelling units and inclusionary zoning policies.

Workshop 3 is all about redeveloping downtown to foster sustainable growth on May 8 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Hunt Memorial Library. Redevelopment incentives and regulatory tools will be explored, and examples of undesirable development elsewhere will be examined to strategize ways to prevent such pitfalls in Nashua.

The final workshop focuses on redeveloping post-industrial areas. The community will discuss which zones should remain industrial and which should be converted into walkable neighborhoods at the Hunt Memorial Library on May 8 from 7 to 8 p.m.

Code Week ends on May 10 with a closing presentation and code party at MakeIt Labs from 7 to 8 p.m. A new zoning map will be presented as well as draft codes and key policies. The community will have the opportunity to give feedback, ask questions and share comments and concerns.

If you cannot make it to any of the workshops, you can stop by the re-CODE studio at Hunt Memorial Library any time between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday during Code Week.
