Dimitria Kirby, 33, is in kidney failure after serious complications following the birth of her second daughter last July. Now, every Tuesday and Saturday she drives an hour each way to dialysis, where her blood is filtered by a machine that removes waste products and extra fluid — work that Kirby’s damaged kidneys can no longer do.
