NASHUA, NH – If you are in the market for a bicycle for yourself or someone in your life you’re in luck.  On Saturday morning the good folks at the Gate City Bike Co-op will be holding their annual bike sale.  The event is the largest fundraising activity for the not-for-profit group that takes in donated bikes, repairs them, and then provides them at no cost to local worthy residents.

The sale will feature 70 to 80 bikes that the co-op crew of volunteers has been refurbishing and tuning up, making them ready to roll down the road.  It is a mix of kids and adult sizes, mostly street bikes with a few classics sprinkled in. The mostly gently-used bikes receive a thorough mechanical going over and will be offered at fair market prices.

The sale begins at 9 a.m. sharp at Gate City Bike Co-op shop located at 17b Aiport Road in the rear parking lot. The sale ends when the bikes sell out – which they always do, so get there early. Please note that they only accept cash and checks for payment, so plan accordingly.

The funds raised help support the all-volunteer program to offset the cost of repairing the bikes they distribute throughout the year. In the 10-plus years of operation, they have supplied over 2,500 refurbished bicycles to local people in need of basic transportation. For a more in-depth look at the activities of the group read our recent Nahua Ink Link article about them here.

The purchase of bikes supports the mission but is not the only way you can help. If you own a bike that needs repairs their certified mechanics offer those services for reasonable rates and those fees help keep the light on.  And of course, volunteers, bicycle donations, and financial support are always welcome.

Saturday morning is your chance to get a good deal on a great bike and help out with the mission of the Co-op. A win-win for all.
