Commercial freezers were donated to various non-profits in need by United Way.

NASHUA, NH – United Way of Greater Nashua recently made a generous donation aimed at bolstering food security efforts within the community. Through the generous support of New England Biolabs, 23 commercial freezers, with an approximate total value of $46,000, have been gifted to local food pantries.

The recipient agencies set to benefit from this donation include:

  • Boys and Girls Club of Greater Nashua
  • Boys and Girls Club of the Souhegan Valley
  • Hudson Food Pantry
  • Meals on Wheels of Hillsborough County
  • Nashua School District
  • Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter
  • Salvation Army
  • SHARE Outreach (Milford)
  • Southern NH Rescue Mission
  • St. Joseph Hospital Employee Pantry
  • Tolles Street Mission
  • Harbor Care Safe Haven

This contribution marks a major milestone in the ongoing efforts to combat food insecurity in the Greater Nashua area. The donated freezers will enable these organizations to better store and distribute perishable food items – in particular protein — ultimately benefiting countless individuals and families in need.

Commenting on the donation, a spokesperson for New England Biolabs stated, “Stewardship of the environment has always been a priority at New England Biolabs. We are thrilled to support local organizations by providing them with freezers that are no longer needed at our manufacturing facility in Ipswich, MA. By donating this equipment, we are extending the useful life of these units and recognizing the good that local organizations bring to our community.”

According to United Way President Mike Apfelberg, “Food security has been on the rise in our community as reported by our local pantry partners and programs serving children and families. In particular, perishable items such as proteins, have been in high demand. The ability to safely store these items for longer periods of time can make an enormous difference to those pantries trying to abate hunger. Therefore, the value of this amazing freezer donation cannot be overstated. We are beyond grateful to New England Biolabs as well as Law Logistics for making this donation possible!”
