NASHUA, NH – To enhance digital equity and empower individuals with digital literacy skills, United Way of Greater Nashua is launching a pioneering initiative called “Digital Navigators” under its Tech Connect United program.

Tech Connect United, a flagship program of United Way of Greater Nashua, aims to address the digital divide by providing access to technology and fostering digital inclusion within the community. The Digital Navigators initiative seeks to recruit dedicated volunteers who are passionate about technology and helping others to serve as guides in navigating the digital landscape.

Digital Navigators play a crucial role in providing digital literacy training and support to individuals, helping them understand and utilize technology such as smartphones, computers, and the internet. From addressing continuous tech support needs like dealing with broken devices, spyware, lost passwords, to assisting with connectivity issues and aiding in accessing affordable internet services, Digital Navigators serve as pillars of support for those striving to bridge the digital divide.

“The Digital Navigators program is a pivotal step towards ensuring that everyone in our community has equal access to the digital resources they need,” said Sara Ceaser, Director of Volunteer and Community Engagement at United Way of Greater Nashua. “By empowering individuals with digital literacy skills and providing them with the necessary support, we can unlock countless opportunities and pave the way for a more inclusive and connected community.”

Volunteers for this project will be assigned to a location within Greater Nashua, based on their preference, to provide one-on-one assistance at a set time. Digital Navigators may be stationed at various community hubs, including public libraries in Nashua and the surrounding towns, nonprofits such as senior centers, and other agencies that serve individuals who may require assistance with digital literacy and technology access.

“We are calling upon individuals who are passionate about technology and community service to join us as Digital Navigators,” added Sara Ceaser. “Through their dedication and commitment, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who are striving to adapt to the digital age.” To learn more about becoming a Digital Navigator or to volunteer for the program, click here or contact info@unitedwaynashua.org or call 603-882-4011.

Additionally, as part of the Tech Connect United initiative, United Way of Greater Nashua encourages individuals and businesses to consider donating gently used laptops or other electronic devices. These donations will greatly contribute to bridging the digital divide by providing essential tools for individuals who may not have access to technology. Donated laptops will be refurbished and distributed to those in need, further empowering individuals to navigate the digital landscape and access educational and employment opportunities.
