Registered sex offender charged with failing to register ‘online identifiers’ with police

NASHUA, NH – On April 23, 2024, The Nashua Police Department arrested Walter McKnight, 52, of 88 West Hollis St., Apartment 5, Nashua for failing to comply with the state’s registration of online identifiers law.

On February 28, 2024, the Nashua Police Department discovered that McKnight, a registered Tier III sex offender, was noncompliant with his registration requirements. The investigation was furthered by detectives assigned to the Special Investigations Division.  

The investigation revealed that McKnight had numerous email and social media accounts, classified as “online identifiers,” and had not registered them with the Nashua Police Department as required during his quarterly registrations.  Based on the investigation an arrest warrant was obtained for McKnight.  

McKnight was charged with 12 counts of Registration of Online Identifiers, all Class B felonies.

McKnight was released on personal recognizance bail pending his arraignment at the 9th Circuit-District Division-Nashua Court on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

According to the NH Sex Offenders Registry McKnight was convicted in 1994 at the age of 22 with 3 counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault in which the victim was under the age of 13, and 2 counts of felonious sexual assault in which his victim was under the age of 16.
